About Robyn Heitmann;

Robyn was brought up in Salisbury, in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. She left school early, and worked a series of uninspiring jobs before returning to study, taking a BA at Flinders University, majoring in Sociology and Women's Studies with a serious dose of Australian History on the side.

Her first published writing was in The Australian newspaper, where she won a mobile phone worth more than her car for contributing to the series Dry Rot about the pitfalls of home renovations.

In the early 2010's she was fortunate to spend four years in the United Kingdom, where she volunteered at St Paul's Cathedral.  guiding school children as they discovered the history of both the building, and of London.

It was not until retirement that she took up writing again, submitting two short stories to the E M Fletcher prize. These were included in the FHACT anthology Every Family Has a Story ; Swinging the Lantern (2022) and Honouring Introdaqua ( 2023) for which she received an honourable mention.

After spending nearly ten years in Canberra, she returned to live in the state of her birth.

She writes for The Friends of Ruthven Mansions as Robyn Shortwoman, and gives presentations based on her research through the local library network and to community groups.
